This date in 1644 brought what has been called America’s first USO (Unidentified Submerged Object) sighting— two bright lights were seen rising up out of the water by some stunned pilgrims in a boat near Boston. The US banned sales of pre-sliced bread for the duration of WWII on January 18, 1943.
